Welcome to bumptown.
This is a personal part of the blog which I have been pondering on starting for the last few weeks. If you don’t follow the KD Instagram you won’t know that I am super excited to be 25 weeks pregnant. This is my first baby and it still doesn’t feel real.
I have looked for a fashion/style/maternity blog and haven’t found one which caters for my needs as a working mother-to-be. I can also say the same about the highstreet, I have been keeping a look out for some maternity style staples and have been so disappointed that I am considering naming and shaming the stores I visited (.. Topshop/H&M etc). I think for a store to fully cater for a woman’s lifestyle means they should carefully consider everything from workwear, occasionwear and maternitywear.
As the creative director at KD I want to also cater for #kdgirls who are going through one of the most exciting yet confusuing times in their lives. I am constanly trying on the collection to see what works, why it works and why it doesn’t. So many people have contacted me to say I should design a maternity collection. But I feel as this is so brand-new to me that I would really appreciate your feedback on pregnancy style/tips.
I know for myself my own body changes constantly, as does my thoughts on how I want to dress the bump. In my job I need to be dressed in smart workwear to greet customers, bespoke brides and attend important meetings. I need a wardrobe that is versatile and includes items I can mix and match.
Through the next few posts I will be interviewing other mums-to-be on what they love to wear and share.
“STYLE IT/WEAR IT/SHARE IT” doesn’t stop when you are pregnant.
Also let’s look to the famous faces/street style stars and see how they style it up. (You know we are all obsessed with how Blake Lively has knocked it up a gear when it comes to pregnancy style.)
