Happy Hump Day.

Urban Dictionary: hump day

“The middle of a work week (Wednesday); used in the context of climbing a proverbial hill to get through a tough week.”

It’s the middle of the week and you are on your lunch hour, what better way to spend your time than a spot of online shopping. Our KD classic FIFI dress is back this season in hot pink, every season we change the FIFI to be short, long, pleated or pencil. Each season it is a huge hit. We have styled the FIFI with a pair of red classic patent Louboutins and the Kate Moss for Rimmel matching red lipstick. As the weather is getting a little bit colder we would put the Shiva Sleeveless Jacket with it.

This seaon’s FIFI is mini length or mid-thigh so a hint of a tan would help blast away those winter blues. I couldn’t get an appointment with my normal beautician last weekend for my tan top up so I tried this tan from Fake Bake, 60 minute self tan liquid. My short review is that everyone from a fake tan expert to a newbie should own this, it comes with a mit and gloves and dries in about 2-3 minutes. As promised the tan comes out in 60 minutes, usually the time needed to apply my make-up, style my hair and wait for a cab. This should be on everyone’s beauty must-have list.

This week’s FACEBOOK FLASH SALE dress is the Riley Dress which is £132.75 from £295. This offer lasts until midnight tonight and you can purchase the dress in any size from 6-16.

Happy Shopping! Riley Dress

In my lunch hour I nipped out and bought this shade of berry stained, vamp like luscious red matt lipstick from Chanel and slightly lighter cherry red lipliner. This is the perfect accompaniment to the neutral shades in the Riley Dress. Also quite apt for this time of year, think fashionista vampire meets Dracula.

Have a fabulous we(eek)end.

Wedding Dress Experience

After visiting numerous shops/websites and having no luck finding my dream dress I came across Kirsty’s name on Facebook. I read couple of reviews about her bespoke designer wedding dress service and contacted her immediately asking if I could arrange a meeting and possibly have her make my wedding dress if there was enough time (it was January and I was getting married in September). After meeting Kirsty and going over what I was looking for style-wise , material etc I felt re-assured that I could have the dress of my dreams and have it designed and tailored exactly how I wanted so I had all my measurements taken and arranged another appointment to go over the design.

Not long after this first meeting I found out I was pregnant and working out my dates realised I would be 8 months into this pregnancy it on my wedding day. I called Kirsty and arranged a meeting to discuss what I could do to adapt my dress to suit my growing figure then when we met she instantly reassured me that everything would be ok it was something to add to the occasion and that the fittings for the dress would just be dictated by myself and run a lot closer to the wedding than normal but this wouldn’t be a problem. I felt so much better knowing I wouldn’t have to worry if I would actually fit into my dress on the big day and that the design could be changed to flatter my fuller figure and emphasize the bump rather than hide it.

So in the run up to my big day I had numerous fittings to see how my body had changed measurement wise and the final fitting was 5 days before we flew out to Cyprus for the big day. Kirsty was amazing suggesting changes that would make the dress look better and suit my shape even right up until the last fitting. The end result couldn’t have been any better and I would have no hesitations in recommending her services to anyone of my friends and family. What could have been a very stressful time became so easy to deal with and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better dress for the occasion.

Kirsty is an amazing designer and very professional I would like to take this opportunity to thank her again for all her help and advice over this whole experience.

Kirsten Lynch’s Bespoke Bride Album.

If you remember reading Kirsten’s post I did when she got married to Michael you might remember the special detail that Kirsten used to live on the same street of me, we were childhood friends. My mum made and beaded her communion gown and then I asked my mum to bead the bust on her wedding gown.

Kirsten wanted to go 1920’s style, art deco in her wedding gown. We decided on a white silk crepe back satin fabric for the dress which had a 4m train and Swarovski and pearl beading to be done by hand under the bust and around to the back.  The drama of the dress was in the back, carefully draped Swarovski pearls made a stunning detail that lead the eye down to the scooped out back and the full train. Kirsten had a hidden loop to tie the train up when she took to the dancefloor with her little twins, Daisy and Tom.

The one part of the look that didn’t decide on was the veil, this is the exciting part of having a dress designed for you. Towards the end of the bespoke process you can see how the  dress takes shape and veils do depend on the shape, style and detail of the dress. We made a toile veil for Kirsten to try, a toile means a mock-up. We tried the veil long and then trimmed it until it finished at the bottom of the spine. This was the perfect length for the perfect dress.

I dressed Kirsten on the day of her wedding and my mum came along to assist me with steaming and pressing the gown. This was such a special moment for us to be part of, as it is for every day dressing the bride in her gown which has taken months in the planning. But both of knowing Kirsten since we were tiny had extra emotions attached.

It’s nearly the weekend and here’s what you should be buying.

It’s very nearly the weekend..

My top three for this weekend’s favourite pieces from the collection would be the luxe pvc/jersey combo Yasmin Skirt this skirt should be on everyone’s must-have list. Wear it layered up or with a scuba jersey bustier for a more evening look. In the first picture I am wearing the Makenzie coat with it and my cherry red Louboutins.   One tip when wearing the Makenzie or Tiffany Coat is to tie the belt super tight to pull in the waist, this also makes the ruffle puff out more on the hem. In the final picture I am wearing the Marthe Skirt with oops… did I say 3 top picks? Can I squeeze in the Shira Sleeveless Jacket too? It’s my blog and I think I need the Shira in my top picks for this weekend. The wind caught the silk in the picture and it shows off Jessica’s print to perfection! The Shira is a perfect go-to piece, when the season isn’t quite sure whether it wants to be Autumn OR Winter this piece can be worn over a dress or with boyfriend jeans and a leather jacket, Layer-up-Luxury!

The lipstick is from topshop and I have gone for  that windswept hair look – deliberately of course.

Juli Abbey’s Bespoke Bride Album.

Let me introduce Juli and her mum Joan to you, Juli was my Christmas bride from 2011. Juli knew what she wanted and I visualised it for her. Soft silk crepe bodice and full circular skirt which got more voluminous as we got more excited by how it glamorous it looked! She wanted something just as fabulous for her mum who was going to giver her away on her special day.  We designed a lace and crepe two piece style dress, every detail was cut and made bespoke for Joan.

“Kirsty you’re a love I’m sure, in fact certain I’ll feel a million dollars on my day and it’ll be down to you.”

This photograph below is my favourite. When I delivered the dress to Juli she had one very last try, we had added extra net and tulle to the underskirt so when she walked the dress twirled like a scene from a 50’s movie, reminiscent of a Marilyn Monroe style moment when the dress is so grand it makes the wearer feel like a film star (even in her living room). You can see the natural happiness in this picture as Juli dances with her new husband her peep-toe(d) feet perfectly poised!
